“New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings” – Lao Tzu
Moving forward doesn’t always look the way we imagine. In our minds we have a goal or a vision of what it should feel like and what would happen if we were progressing in life. When things don’t match that vision, we begin to feel inadequate and disappointed.
We say things like, “I can’t believe, I’m still struggling with this, or I should be past it by now.” We take a bad day and use it as evidence that we are moving backwards in life (a convincing lie). Then the negative thoughts and feelings repeat themselves as we repeat the thoughts.
However, the challenges and repeating struggles serve a purpose. We cannot cross over or move through without meeting the discomfort of changes. They are not attempting to bring you down but to lift you up.
A new perspective for you to consider is that whatever is hard is happening FOR you and not TO you. If you have the perspective that something is happening to you, you become the victim of the circumstances.
If you choose to see the challenge as happening FOR you – for your growth, for your learning, for your healing, for your awakening, for your heart, for healthier relationships – you empower yourself to open up towards life rather than close down.
This perspective is not about sugar coating what is hard or what is real – life is hard at times and certain experiences wipe us out, however, your perspectives shape your life and since challenges are a norm of life, why not adopt a more accepting view?
Your “new beginning” may be hiding the shadows of a shit storm – keep your head up and remember that moving forward doesn’t always look the way you imagine!
LIFE IS NOT AGAINST YOU; LIFE IS FOR YOU. It is cheering for you to become the truest version of yourself, and you can do it. When things are hard, scary, overwhelming – ride the waves with the assurance of moving forward.
