“It’s not a matter of letting go—you would if you could. Instead of ‘Let it go,’ we should probably say ‘Let it be.’” ~Jon Kabat-Zinn
I love the above quote as it speaks to the part of us that cannot let go. Letting go of a past relationship, a childhood trauma, letting go of how things used to be, how things ought to be or how it could have been instead is hard. Letting go is a heavy ordeal and that may take time to heal.
I often hear my clients feeling frustrated and beating themselves up about something that they believe “should be over by now”. This adds more pain to whatever it is that they are struggling to let go of because there is judgment and resistance to the hurt they feel. Part of the process of letting go includes, indecision, grief, and pain and time. There are good days, bad days and everything in between.
Let me know if you gathered any insight on letting go or rather letting it be from my story above. I love to hear from you and read each of your emails!
